The homepage of your Inline Help Widget is the first point of interaction users will have with the help resources you provide. Customizing it to suit your application’s needs is essential for enhancing user experience. Follow the steps below to set up your homepage effectively.
Accessing the Homepage Settings
Log in to your Inline Help Dashboard with your administrator credentials.
In the Dashboard, navigate to Site > Settings > Widget > Homepage.
You will now be presented with various configuration options for your widget's homepage.
Configuring the Homepage
On the homepage settings screen, you will see several sections. Each of them you can disable or enable. You can also re-order them by dragging and dropping. Here's how you can configure each:
Resources for this page: This feature allows to show most relevant resources from your knowledge base. Click on Edit to rename the resources panel.
Explain this to me: This feature offers users help by explaining elements on your website. You can customize the text to fit the language and tone of your website.
Chat: If you have enabled the AI support bot, this section allows users to start a conversation. Ensure that the bot is properly set up to handle incoming queries.
Knowledge Base: This is where users can browse through the resources you have made available. Organize your articles or FAQs to make it easy for users to find what they need.
Submit a Ticket: When users need personalized assistance, this option lets them submit a support ticket. Ensure that your support ticket system is integrated and functioning - currently we support only Freshdesk.
Each section should be reviewed to ensure that it aligns with the kind of support and interaction you want to offer your users.
Saving Your Settings
After making text changes, be sure to click the Save button beside each section to apply your changes. If you make a mistake or change your mind, you can click Cancel to revert to the previous settings.
Turning features off or on and changing the order saves automatically.
Viewing the Homepage
It's a good practice to see the homepage after customization to ensure everything looks and functions as expected. Use the Playground feature to see the widget with latest settings or navigate to your website where the widget is implemented.
Conclusion
Customizing the homepage of your Inline Help Widget is crucial for providing a seamless help experience to your users. Take the time to consider what resources and options will be most beneficial for your users and set up the homepage to reflect this.
